Community Impact Panels

Local panels made up of approximately 50-60 volunteers from the community and the United Way of Carlisle & Cumberland County Board (representing all donors) make up our Community Impact Panels. They study agency budgets, audits, programs, goals and achievements each year along with our Community Needs Assessment. These volunteers work diligently to determine allocations for the coming year based on the assessments of our community needs, and the proposed partner agency program’s ability to meet that need.

For panelists the process takes a total of about two days. It includes attending an hour and half training in mid-September where they will learn about the process and meet with their fellow panel members to determine dates that work for everyone to conduct tours. Then the panelists will need six to eight hours for onsite tours, budget presentations, and funding recommendation meetings which occur October through mid-November. It is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the human service needs of our community and the programs that make a difference.
