M&T Bank Glee College A Cappella Competition History:
The M&T Glee Competition started in 2011 as a general a cappella competition. Due to the gaining popularity of the Collegiate performers, 2012-2014 required the program be split into two sessions; One focused on general A cappella as a Genre and the other strictly college a cappella performers. By 2015 the program became a solely collegiate competition. 11 college a cappella groups performed to a SOLD OUT audience of nearly 1,000 people in historic downtown Carlisle PA. On a 600 point scale, our top three finalists were only separated by 10 points.
In 2016, we added a “People’s Choice” winner with audience voting, as well as, awards for top vocalist, percussionist and choreography. This event was again SOLD OUT!
For one night only, performers from the entire Mid-Atlantic region are invited to apply to compete for a cash prize and bragging rights for the year!!! With competitors from over 5 states each year, judged by a panel of musical expert judges and hosted by ABC 27’s Brett Thackara & Kendra Nichols, this competition has grown to be a premiere collegiate competition in the Mid-Atlantic region and draws a fabulous audience from the east coast.
With the hopes of sharing the stage with returning favorites, as well as new competitors, we are excited to see what 2017 will bring to the stage!
